VISAKHAPATNAM: Six youths were arrested on a charge of luring young girls with job offers and trying to outrage their modesty.

The accused youths issued advertisements in local newspapers seeking 10 {+t} {+h} and Intermediate passed girls to work in a private finance company which has branches at Gajuwaka and Gopalapatnam. The modus operandi of the accused is to intimate five or six girls at a time that they were selected and invite them to NAD Kotha Road junction.

The girls were picked up in autorickshaws from there and taken to Kalipallirega of L. Kota Mandal in Vizianagaram district for the ‘final' interview. The accused youths allegedly tried to outrage the modesty of the girls and snatch their ornaments, according to Gajuwaka CI K. Ranga Raju.

The accused youths were arrested on Wednesday. Gajuwaka Police are investigating the case.

Held on theft charge

A person was arrested by the Fourth Town Police on Wednesday on charge of theft.

S. Srinu, 20, of Seethammapeta stole three mobile phones from passengers in city buses a month ago. He also stole a digital camera from a house with the help of a long pole last month. The accused was arrested and the stolen goods were recovered from him.

Fourth Town Police are investigating the case.
