Asking the bankers to speed up opening of no-frill accounts under the financial inclusion programme, Joint Collector A. Babu on Friday said over six lakh bank accounts had to be opened in the district.

Addressing a review meeting with the bankers here, Mr. Babu said once the financial inclusion project was over, the bank account details would be added to the ‘Aadhaar’ data through seeding project and all the benefits from the government side would be directly credited into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. He said the bankers must focus on opening bulk accounts, as it was not possible to complete the task in time. Lead District Manager S. Jagannadha Raju was present.
