As part of the Pulse Polio immunisation programme, polio drops were administered on 5.68 lakh children below the age of five years in the district on Sunday. In all, 3,250 booths were arranged in various parts of the district and 7,158 medical and para-medical employees were deputed to monitor the programme, that was formally launched at municipal high school for girls at Jagannadhapuram.

Speaking on the occasion, Additional Joint Collector B. Rama Rao said that the medical staff would visit each and every household on Monday and Tuesday to immunise children.
