HYDERABAD: More than 53 per cent of the Secretariat employees hail from Telangana, according to Higher Education Minister D. Srinivas.

Replying to a question by K. Dileep Kumar (TRS) in the Council on Friday about the ratio of employees from Telangana in the Secretariat, the Minister said there were 3,297 employees in the Secretariat of whom 1,762 employees belonged to Telangana. He made it clear that the Secretariat did not come under the Presidential Order and hence the principle of ‘fair share’ did not apply there.

However, Congress members K. R. Amos and P. Goverdhan Reddy as well as Mr. Dileep Kumar sought information about the employees category-wise. Mr. Goverdhan Reddy said 90 per cent of class IV staff were from the region.

Venkat Siva Reddy (TDP) argued that as against 18.5 per cent quota for employees from Rayalaseema in the Secretariat only 6.7 per cent worked there.
