Cement concrete roads, drainage canals taken up

KADAPA: Basic amenities will be improved in all the 50 municipal divisions in Kadapa Municipal Corporation with Rs. 5 crore sanctioned by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Kadapa Mayor P. Raveendranatha Reddy said on Thursday.

The Mayor laid foundation for cement concrete road and pre-cast slab works estimated to cost Rs. 4 lakh in Savaipura Street in the 43rd division here. Each municipal division was sanctioned Rs. 10 lakh out of the Rs. 5 crore, he said. Cement concrete roads, drainage canals, pre-cast slabs and small water supply schemes were being taken up, he said. Mr. Raveendranatha Reddy directed officials to clean choked drains and repair damaged ones to curb the mosquito menace.

He urged people to dispose garbage in collecting tractors.

The Municipal Corporation faced paucity in general funds in the past as it had to pay the salaries of municipal employees. However, as the government was presently paying their salaries, the corporation has general funds of Rs. 10 crore available, the Mayor said.

Notified slums as well as other slum areas would be provided basic amenities, he assured.

Municipal Corporation DE Sivarami Reddy, AE Prabhakar Reddy and corporator Sadiqunnisa participated.
