Joint task force teams comprising the officials of revenue, civil supplies, legal metrology and public sector oil companies on Thursday carried out raids on LPG dealers and restaurants that were selling or using domestic cooking gas cylinders for commercial purposes at several places in Krishna district. In all, 425 such cylinders were seized either from the dealers or restaurants, Joint Collector Gaurav Uppal said.He said it was decided to take departmental action against Hema Gas Company in the city.

The joint task force teams seized 179 cylinders in Vijayawada division, 70 in Nuzvid division, 102 in Gudivada division and 74 in Machilipatnam division.

The joint task force teams would continue to carry out raids to check irregularities in distribution of LPG cylinders, ensure proper supply of essential commodities and kerosene through public distribution system outlets, correct supply of petrol and diesel and keep a tab on cinema theatres.
