Efforts on to trace the missing four

NALGONDA: Four persons, including two teachers, were reported missing in deep waters of a tank at Kothapeta village of Kethepally mandal on Wednesday.

According to police sources, contractor of the tank Palupati Sreenivas of Cherupalli, along with his six friends ventured into the tank on a country boat at 5.30 p.m. to check fish stocks. The boat capsized in deep waters of the tank for unknown reasons.

While Sreenivas, Sheik Yakoob Ali and Rompikuntla Lingaiah managed to reach the bank after 6.30 p.m., the remaining four persons Bandari Yadagiri and L.Narasaiah, both teachers, Bogala Lingaiah and Venkataiah were found to be missing.

Sub-Inspector M.Sridhar Reddy said that efforts were on to trace the missing four. "It is not clear whether they reached the other side of the bank or drowned in the water," the SI said adding that the villagers and police launched a joint operation to located them.

The moonlight helped the villagers to continue with the rescue operations till the last reports came in at 9.30 p.m. on Wednesday.
