Electioneering for 362 gram panchayats in Khammam division, which will go to polls on July 27, drew to a close on Thursday. According to official sources, a large contingent of police force comprising ten DSPs, 40 CIs, 120 SIs, 388 ASIs/HCs, 812 PCs, 44 women PCs, and 700 home guards, besides personnel from APSP and other wings will be deployed for the security arrangements during the panchayat polls slated for July 27. Meanwhile, Collector I. Srinivas Sri Naresh has announced “local holiday” on July 26 and 27 for the government offices, schools, colleges, and other institutions located in the buildings where the polling booths and counting centres were set up in Khammam division. Similarly, the local holiday has been declared on July 30 and 31 in Bhadrachalam, Kothagudem and Palvancha divisions for the final phase of panchayat polls.
