Amid elaborate arrangements, the Rachabanda programme is being conducted in the SPS Nellore district with the district administration listing out beneficiaries under various welfare programmes being implemented by the government.
The benefits, which were being distributed, included new ration cards and sanction of works under the SC, ST sub-plan programmes.
District Collector N. Srikanth said that in the current 3rd phase programme, nearly 30,000 pensions would be provided to new beneficiaries all over the district. These pensions are meant for the aged people, widow, weavers, disabled and weavers.
The existing pensions come to 2.4 lakh and the number would increase to 2.7 lakh during this Rachabanda programme.
Mr. Srikanth said that nearly 80,000 new ration cards would be distributed and 1,500 new certificates would be given under the Bangaru Talli programme. Foundation stones would be laid for works worth Rs. 43 crore under the Indiramma Kalalu programme in different mandals. These works were sanctioned under the SC, ST sub plan.
Stating that there was good response from the beneficiaries, Mr. Srikanth said that Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy was likely to visit the district and a date would be finalised later. District in-charge Minister Pithani Satyanarayana would take part in the Rachabanda here on November 18.
For ensuring effective implementation of the programme, mandal level committees have been formed with three members who consisted of sarpanch, a woman representative and another member.
Nellore Rural MLA Anam Vivekananda Reddy said that benefits would be distributed to the poor families without any bias based on political lines.
