Schemes being worked out to attract more number of customers
GUNTUR: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited will provide wireless telephone facility to 3,000 villages so far uncovered by any telephone company so far as per the latest census the Chief General Manager Telecom S. Ramalingam has said.

At a press conference here on Thursday, he said that as part of its social responsibility, the BSNL was providing telephone at cheaper and affordable rates in the rural areas including the tribal Agency areas and very soon all the villages in Andhra Pradesh will be covered with telephone connectivity, he added.
Today we are offering public telephone in any village from where an application came and individuals were being given telephone connections at Rs.50 per month with 75 calls free.
Though many of the private telephone operators did not fully provide the rural telephony as required by them the BSNL was not going back and doing even extra coverage, he added.
Some attractive schemes were being worked out to attract more number of customers to the basic telephones as 1.25 lakh connections were surrendered during the current financial year so far and as a preventive measure exchanges were being set up in large apartments and colonies so that people could use them as internal phones also.
The services were being brought to their door step, he pointed out.
