Two persons, who were allegedly involved in chain snatchings, were arrested by Central Crime Station and Pendurthi police on Wednesday and 300 gm of gold ornaments and an LED TV was recovered from them.

Giving details to mediapersons here on Wednesday, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) S. Varadarajulu said that Mohd. Vajeeruddin of Pendurthy and his nephew Shahenshah started chain snatchings to lead a lavish lifestyle.

They had committed around 50 chain snatchings in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, and East Godavari districts between 2005 and 2012.

Vajeeruddin had purchased a house in the city with the stolen money.

They were arrested in the past and jailed at the Central Prison in the city.

On being released, Vajeeruddin went back to his old ways and started committing burglaries while Shahenshah has been absconding. Vajeeruddin with the help of an auto driver K. Manikanta (24) of Pendurthi committed burglaries at China Mushidiwada and Visalakshinagar in the city and stole 380 gm of gold ornaments and an LED TV.
