The Halia police on Tuesday arrested three persons Amgoth Mangia (45), Amgoth Hanuman (30) and Amgoth Kotya(28), all agricultural labourers, for their alleged involvement in the murder of their relative Amgoth Swamy Naik (24) who recently resigned as CRPF constable, in the small hours of April 24 at Rangundla village.
G. Venkateshwar Reddy, CI and Balwanthaiah, SI, told a press conference that the incident occurred over a petty land issue, when the victim was sleeping.
Naik was found dead with 30 stab injuries. He was attacked with knife by Mangia while the other two held his head and legs.
The dispute among them was over occupying eight guntas of government land to be added to Naik's two acres for constructing a temple.
He rejected the proposal and refused to part with money. Hence the trio planned to do away with him and allegedly resorted to the murder.
The police registered a case following a complaint lodged by Naik'a father. They produced the three persons before the Miryalaguda First Class Judicial Magistrate, who remanded them to 14 days' custody.
