A man, who reportedly tried to cheat a land owner, and his wife and father-in-law were arrested by the Kancharapalem police on Tuesday.

Ananta Padmanabha Sastry, who was an employee of BHPV in the past, had purchased a 330 sq yard site under Kancharapalem limits. After retirement, he went back to Ongole and used to come on and off. In 2002, he found that the site was occupied. On verification, Mr. Sastry found that Durga Prasad, reportedly an associate of a former MP, and some others had occupied the land. Mr. Sastry moved the court against the accused, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police (North) B. Prasada Rao.

Mr. Sastry produced the documents he had with him and Durga Prasad also produced some documents. Mr. Sastry took the public order from court and found there was some discrepancy in the Survey Number and name of the purchaser though the document number had tallied with the original.

He lodged a complaint with the V Town police.
