They were meant for Indiramma beneficiaries

As many as 268 cement bags meant for the beneficiaries of the Indiramma housing scheme were allegedly misappropriated by the in-charge of Housing Department’s godown in Bayyaram mandal.

The alleged fraud came to the fore after a departmental inquiry conducted by the Executive Engineer concerned found a total of 268 cement bags missing from the department’s godown in Bayyaram.

The bags were meant for supply to the beneficiaries of the housing scheme in the mandal.

Meanwhile, allegations of supply of cement bags to ineligible persons at the cost of the Indiramma beneficiaries surfaced in the mandal.

We will initiate appropriate measures to recover Rs. 47,800 from the godown in-charge Venkateshwarlu as he was found responsible for the missing of 268 cement bags during a departmental probe, said V. Bhaskar, the in-charge Project Director, Housing Department, Khammam.

We have received instructions from the higher officials to recover the entire amount from him within a couple of days, he said adding that a detailed inquiry will be conducted into the allegations of irregularities in supply of cement bags in the mandal.
