Proposals forwarded for grant of Rs. 375 crore through the 12th Finance Commission
KADAPA: Municipalities in the State will be developed with the first instalment of Rs. 150 crore released under the 12th Finance Commission funds, Director of Municipal Administration Sunil Sarma said on Monday.
Proposals were forwarded for grant of Rs. 375 crore through the 12th Finance Commission for development of municipalities in the State, he told newsmen during his visit to the recently-formed Badvel municipality. Badvel municipality would get a share of Rs. 34 lakh, he said.
He said he was touring the new municipalities in the State as part of efforts to develop them with State and Central funds.
Badvel municipal commissioner A.C. Chandra Prakash informed the director on the need to augment drinking water supply, improve roads and drainage system. Mr. Sunil Sarma assured to accord top priority to mitigation of water shortage after discussing with engineering officials concerned.
He enquired with the commissioner on the financial position, staff strength and need for constructing an administrative block on the premises. Town planning officer Chandrasekhar, assistant engineer Gurivi Reddy and other officials participated.
