Polling in 119 Assembly and 17 parliam-entary constituencies was peaceful though 15 cases were registered following violent incidents, DGP B. Prasada Rao said on Wednesday.

Cases were registered against sitting MLAs, Revanth Reddy of Kodangal in Mahbubnagar and D. Sudhir Reddy of L.B. Nagar in the city. While Mr. Revanth of the TDP and his supporters clashed with TRS supporters, Mr. Sudhir slapped a TDP activist Gandhi, the DGP said.

TDP nominee B. Pratap Reddy and 13 others attacked the cameraman of ‘C’ channel in Gajwel of Medak district. The accused later surrendered before the police. CPI activists assaulted a police constable at Khammam while the Congress nominee from Secunde-rabad Cantonment Gajjela Kantham was accused of attacking a Sub-Inspector of Begumpet police station.

An amount of Rs. 1.57 lakh was recovered from an Innova car which caught fire at Suryapet in Nalgonda district. The money is believed to belong to a contestant and a case was registered. A pregnant woman sustained minor injuries when a SI tried to disperse a mob that gathered at Venkatapuram village of Mahbubnagar district. Villagers became furious and stopped polling.

The matter was sorted out after the local higher police officials promised action against the SI.
