HYDERABAD: All the 12 Telugu Desam members were suspended from the Legislative Council for the day on Monday when they stalled the proceedings seeking admission of their adjournment notice to discuss extension of the debt waiver scheme announced by the Union Government to all farmers without pre-conditions.

Chairman A. Chakrapani, however, disallowed the adjournment motion saying that a special debate on the issue under the motion was unnecessary. As soon as the House met, the Telugu Desam members were on their feet, led by Dadi Veerabhadra Rao, insisting on a debate on their demand for removal of pre-conditions attached to the waiver benefit and making it applicable to all farmers.

As they raised slogans, Agriculture Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy proposed a motion for their suspension for the day.
