State Government agencies and Food Corporation of India have procured a massive quantity of over 11.6 lakh tonnes of rabi paddy so far, after payment of the minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 1,030 a quintal for “A” grade and Rs 1,000 for common varieties to the farmers.

Civil Supplies Commissioner Harpreet Singh said here on Saturday that the Government had increased the number of paddy purchase centres to 1,383 from 1,268 to avoid paddy transportation to long distances .
