KADAPA: A sum of Rs. 110 crore was sanctioned for construction of buildings for the College of Veterinary Science at Gopavaram in Proddatur mandal, Vice-Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University Md. Hafeez has said.

Speaking at the first annual college and hostel day celebrations on the college premises at Proddatur on Thursday, the Vice-Chancellor said Rs. 24 crore was had been for construction of an academic block in the first phase and engineers of the School of Planning and Architecture of Jawaharlal Nehru University at Hyderabad would undertake the work soon.

Tributes paid to YSR

Dr. Hafeez paid tributes to former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for his efforts to alleviate rural poverty and promote veterinary education.

Associate Dean of the college K. Sarjan Reddy said the college would admit 30 students into B.V.Sc. from those qualifying in EAMCET exam and counselling. He presented a report on the activities in the college in the last one year.

Dean of Student Affairs, SVVU, Subramanyam Naidu, Dean of Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, SVVU, K. Somasekhar Reddy and Joint Director of Animal Husbandry, Kadapa, M. Srinivasa Rao spoke.

Earlier, professors of the College of Veterinary Science, Tirupati, Latha and Vaikuntha Rao, addressed a technical seminar for veterinary assistant surgeons on ‘Emerging diseases in livestock – differential diagnosis through ante and post-mortem techniques.'
