As many as 14 CITU and 108 ambulance staff were taken into preventive custody when they tried to stall recruitment of health staff afresh in the wake of the indefinite strike by the staff members which entered the 10th day on Sunday.

A high drama was witnessed in-front of the district office of the 108 ambulance service as the agitators staged a noisy protest and resisted attempts by the police to take them into custody under section 151 Cr.Pc.

A police team led by CI K. Prakasa Rao bodily lifted into waiting police van 14 of the protesters including CITU Prakasam district general secretary Ch. Srinviasa Rao, CITU district secretary and CITU-led 108 Services Contract Employees Union honorary president Ch.Mazumdar, Union President Sk.Mastan, Union Secretary T. Satish.
