HYDERABAD: Thieves took away 10,000 US dollars from a house at Royal Colony in Humayunnagar on Monday.

The house-owner, Faizal Ahmed Khan, went out with his grandson after locking the house around 11 a.m. They returned home three hours later.

While the main door lock was intact, one bedroom was found ransacked and 10,000 US dollars stolen from the almirah in the room.

The offenders broke open the almirah and took away the currency notes, Inspector Madhukar Swamy said.

This raised suspicions of possible complicity of insiders or persons having access to the house in the theft. Mr. Khan, who has a dual citizenship of India and the US, has crores of rupees worth properties in and around Hyderabad and reportedly has legal disputes with a close relative.
