The 12th Farmers' Awards, given away by the Tobacco Institute of India (TII), New Delhi, will be presented here on September 3.

The awards recognise scientific and progressive agricultural practices among FCV, burley and oriental tobacco growers in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, according to TII.

“Besides nurturing a sense of healthy competition among farmers, the awards also serve as an impetus to improve productivity, quality and global competitiveness in the field of Indian tobacco,” Udayan Lall, Director, TII, said in a press release.

The selection of awardees, the release said, is done in a transparent manner, involving a distinguished panel of judges.

A.H. Vishwanath, MP, will be the chief guest. The function will be held at Sri Vittala Rukmini Convention Hall on Hunsur Road.
