A tiger from the Sunderbans took away a person when a group was fishing in the fringe areas of the forests in West Bengal’s 24 Parganas (South) district.

The man, identified as Isahaque Laskar, was fishing with a couple at Beniseli jungles on the riverine area of the Sidurkathi river when the tiger venturing out from the forest took him away on January 2 last, the police said here on Saturday. The group had gone to the river to catch crabs when the incident happened. A report has been filed with the police and forest authorities and efforts are on to trace the person. — PTI
