CANNING (WEST BENGAL): A tiger has been roaming in a village near Sundarbans giving the shivers to forest officials since morning on Monday.
Forest officials said the local people of Jharkhali village had spotted the tiger which must have come from the nearby Herobanga jungle.
Despite efforts to catch it, the officials had failed to net the big cat till evening.
A fresh initiative would be taken during the night to cage the animal, they said.
The officials said the tiger might be the one spotted in the village four days ago. It had managed to escape the trap laid and returned to the forest.
They said the tiger might be in search of its female partner which had been trapped in the village and later released in a distant jungle a week ago. -- PTI
