Those who were burnt alive include two women and a girl
Three persons, including a five-year-old girl were killed and two others sustained grievous injuries when an explosion took place in a licensed firecrackers workshop at Komaripalem village near Vedurupaka Savaram of Rayavaram police station limits on Sunday.
The incident took place at 2 p.m. when manufacturing of firecrackers was going on. Two women and a girl - Dongala Lakshmi, 65, of Komaripalem, Katta Bujji, 35, of Konkuduru and Aruna, 5, - were burnt alive.
Penumanchili Annavaram, 38, of Gudavarthi village near Vetlapalem and Velangi Annavaram, 40, of Samalkot were seriously injured and were rushed to the Government General Hospital here, where the doctors said that their condition was critical. Three others were escaped with minor injuries.
According to the police, the workshop - Bhavani Fireworks was owned by a person named Velpuri Satti Babu of Vedurupalka village. The manufacturing of crackers goes on round-the-year.
The explosion took place when over ten women were being engaged in the manufacturing of the crackers, whereas the girl was there along with her mother.
Tension prevailed in the vicinity after to the sudden explosion in the workshop and the people did not dare to enter on the premises for sometime.
The injured women raised an alarm and rushed out of the premises.
The injured were rushed to a local hospital, from where the two women were referred to the GGH.
The exact reason for the explosion was yet to be known.
The Rayavaram police registered a case and a team of police was on the job of thorough investigation.
