Three primary school children –Y. Sandeep, K. Ganesh and P. Sai Kiran (all students of class 2) suffered burns when an abandoned cracker exploded at Kaluvarai village in Bobbili mandal on Thursday evening.

Sub-Divisional Police officer Phalguna Rao and Inspector Rajeswara Rao visited the village immediately. The students, while playing near the school premises, found a high intensity cracker (damp squib) that was abandoned by some marriage party and torched it. In the blast, Sandeep suffered burns on his hands and eyes. The other two children also sustained injuries in their eyes. They were admitted to a community health centre in Bobbili by 108 service and later shifted to KGH in Visakhapatnam.
