Party delegation meets Deputy Speaker

The Telugu Desam Legislature Party on Thursday renewed its demand for disqualifying its rebel MLA, N. Prasanna Kumar Reddy, representing Kovur in Nellore district, for anti-party activities.

A TDLP delegation comprising P. Keshav and Jaipal Yadav met Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar and submitted another petition for disqualification of Mr. Reddy expeditiously.

Mr. Keshav reminded him that the TDP whip D. Narendra Kumar had submitted the first letter more than a year ago to disqualify Mr. Prasanna Kumar Reddy for working against the party's interests.

Open defiance

Mr. Reddy and Mantralayam MLA Y. Balanagi Reddy have openly associated themselves with rebel Congress leader Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy.

The former participated in the ‘Odarpu yatra' in Nellore district, while the latter joined the former MP's fast in New Delhi.

Then Speaker N. Kiran Kumar Reddy had even served a notice on Mr. Prasanna Kumar Reddy following which the latter gave his response. Talking to reporters, Mr. Keshav said they asked the Deputy Speaker the reasons for the delay in announcing a decision.

“We met the then Speaker more than 12 times,” he added.

Manohar's promise

To a question, he said a similar complaint would be lodged against Mr. Balanagi Reddy, accompanied with evidence, seeking his disqualification as MLA.

Mr. Manohar said he would discuss the matter with Legislature Secretary Raja Sadaram and take necessary action.
