As the capital is readying itself to witness a mammoth delegation of leaders of Seemandhra regions consisting of ministers, MPs, MLAs and senior Congress functionaries next week who are to ask the leadership not to divide Andhra Pradesh at any cost, Congress functionaries from Telangana too are planning a counter move to thwart their attempts and pressurise the Centre to immediately announce the formation of the new State.

Telangana protagonist and Rajya Sabha member V. Hanumantha Rao said the elected representatives and functionaries from T-region would go to any extent to make the high command fulfil its promise of creating the new State. He appealed to the Seemandhra leaders to respect the people’s sentiments and not precipitate the matter in the interests of the Telugu people. Congress Lok Sabha member from Vijayawada and United Andhra protagonist L. Rajagopal pointed out that the Telangana sentiment prevailed only in 20-25 Assembly constituencies in Adilabad, Karimnagar, Nizamabad and part of Warangal districts and in the rest of the constituencies, people wanted the continuation of the united State.

Informed sources said the leaders from Seemandhra were planning to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, her political secretary Ahmed Patel, ministers S.K. Shinde, P. Chidambaram, Vayalar Ravi, Ghulam Nabi Azad and senior party functionaries here next week to prevail upon them that creating the State of Telangana might doom the prospects of the party in the Assembly/Lok Sabha polls of 2014.
