‘Swami Vivekananda a youth icon’

Students from schools across the city participated in a rally in Malleswaram on the occasion of the 150{+t}{+h}birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

Home Minister R. Ashok inaugurated the celebrations on Saturday.

Mr. Ashok, who is also the Deputy Chief Minister, said that the life of the youth icon has been a major inspiration for him.

“If any change needs to be brought in society, we will have to mobilise the youth. It is the younger generation that has to realise our dreams,” he said.

Platform for youngsters

Malleswaram MLA C.N. Ashwath Narayan participated in the proceedings and said the constituency of Malleswaram has several platforms for the youth to involve themselves in development works.

“The pace of development will be faster if there is youth connect for it,” he said.

The rally culminated at Malleswaram grounds.
