The Myanmar leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, who will be visiting Anantapur district on Saturday along with Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh, is expected to spend about two-and-a-half hours here.
She will be get insights into women empowerment through self help groups and the MGNREGS.
She will visit a few villages in Madakasira along with Mr. Jairam Ramesh, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and Ministers N. Raghuveera Reddy and Dokka Manikya Varaprasad.
Ms. Suu Kyi will arrive from Bangalore around 9:30 a.m. by helicopter at Kothulagutta village where a power point presentation on the SHG movement will be made to her. She will travel by road to Papasanipalli village to see an MGNREGS worksite and interact with the workers at Govindapuram village.
She will visit the house of Muddakka, an SHG member at Papasanipalli village and interact with her family members and know how the self help group movement had changed their fortunes.
The leader will take part in a Rachabanda programme in the village and later interact with women groups there.
She will also visit a model Balabadi (school) at Papasanipalli village where she will interact with Madakasira Mandal Samkhya of the Sapthagiri SHG. The leader will leave around 12 noon for Bangalore by helicopter.
