The State Government on Wednesday said that several companies that were involved in quarrying in Kanakapura taluk of Bangalore district had based their operations in forest land.

The State made this submission in a survey report it had filed before the Karnataka High Court.

The State had taken up survey on the basis of October 6, 2010 order of a Division Bench of the Chief Justice J.S. Khehar and Justice A.S. Bopanna.

The Bench, while hearing a case by Manjunath M.N. of Jayanagar, Bangalore, had directed the Deputy Conservator of Forests and the Joint Director of Survey and Land Records to inspect quarries adjoining Bannerghatta National Park in Kanakapura taluk and file a report.
