The Kolar Zilla Shashwata Neeravari Horata Samiti has decided to organise Vidhana Soudha chalo during the last week of January demanding implementation of permanent irrigation projects in Kolar and Chickballapur districts. The committee felt it appropriate to hold the march to Vidhana Soudha before the budget session in order to build up pressure on the government.
The committee, which met here recently, decided to revive the stir which was launched more than a decade ago. The meeting, presided over by the committee president M.G. Prabhakar, fixed the dates to hold taluk-level conventions in order to mobilise the people for the stir meant for the survival of the twin districts.
The conventions will be held in Bangarpet, Kolar, Srinivaspur, Mulbagal, and Malur on November 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25 respectively.
It was resolved to hold the district-level meeting on November 28 at Kolar to review the developments.
Addressing the meeting, the Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha (KPRS) general secretary G.C. Bayya Reddy underlined the need for launching a powerful movement to bring pressure on the government in connection with implementing permanent irrigation project in the parched district as enunciated by irrigation expert G.S. Paramashivaiah.
