About 600 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya residential schools across India, including 27 in Karnataka, will close down from February 6 with more than about 20,000 employees working there going on an indefinite strike.

With final exams scheduled in March and entrance test for admission to schools to Class 6 slated for February 10, the strike could affect parents and children.

A release from the Joint Action Committee of Service Associations of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samitis, the staff of navodaya schools will launch stir to pressure the government to meet their demands one of which is that they should be brought under the Central Civil Service Pension Scheme, 1972.
