THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Department of Posts will issue a commemorative postage stamp on the Silent Valley in Kerala on November 15.
The stamp is being issued on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of declaration of the valley as a national park. It is also a mark of respect to the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who took crucial decisions to protect the valley. Kerala Forest Minister Benoy Viswom had written to the Minister for Communications and Information Technology A. Raja two months ago seeking the issue of a stamp.
In his reply, Mr. Raja said the proposal was approved. “You are requested to coordinate with the Department of Posts, and arrange to provide material or information on Silent Valley for further necessary action.”
