The sixth accused in the Gurgaon gang-rape case has been arrested here while the seventh is still absconding, Gurgaon police said.
Dharambir alias Dharma, a resident of Narnaul in Mahendargarh, was arrested on Friday and the cab used in the crime was seized from him, the police said.
Five of the accused were arrested from Nathupura village in Gurgaon on Thursday within hours of the incident being reported to the police. The five were produced before a local court on Friday and remanded in judicial custody.
Two women had hired the cab from outside the Club 18 pub on the Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road to take them to their house in Delhi at 12.30 a.m. But after travelling some distance, Dharambir, who was driving, turned towards Faridabad and stopped the car at an isolated place. Two men got into the vehicle and allegedly raped the women while Dharambir locked the doors of the vehicle from inside and drove towards Faridabad. One of the women who escaped called the Police Control Room from the cell phone of a security guard.
All the seven accused in the case are cab drivers.
