The situation in West Bengal is fit for imposition of President's rule, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee said on Sunday.
“The State government should be sacked. It is definite that the people will ultimately sack it. …We have not said anything so far [to the Centre], but the situation is fit for President's rule,” she told journalists here.
Biman Bose, chairman of the State's Left Front Committee, said it was not the first time she was making such a claim. “Let her discuss it with the Centre… People of West Bengal have seen the promulgation of Article 356 before. They are not afraid of it.”
CPI(M) activists “were misusing the joint operations [against Maoists in the Jangal Mahal region] by wearing the uniforms of the local police and the central forces to spread terror.”
However, Mr. Bose said it were the activists of the Police Santrash Birodhi Janasadharaner Committee and the CPI (Maoist) who were misusing the uniforms.
