Two fishermen, Subair, 50, and Abdul Wahab, 45, were admitted to a government hospital on Saturday with minor injuries, sustained after a ship allegedly rammed their fishing boat off the Vadakara coast around 4.45 a.m. on Saturday. Coast Guard officials said they had mounted a search operation for the ship.
The fishermen said they had reached 15 nautical miles in the sea when the collision occurred. Both men jumped into the sea soon after the impact. Their boat was fitted with two Yamaha engines, one of which was allegedly broken in the collision. They said they had clambered onto the boat and used the one remaining engine to head back to land.
