The Students Federation of India (SFI) has urged the Governor, who is the Chancellor of universities in the State, to make an independent evaluation of the tussle between the Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University and the State government.
In a statement here on Sunday, the SFI’s State committee said the Vice-Chancellor was appointed after the United Democratic Front came to power. Because of the tussle, students and research fellows of the university were being made to suffer.
The Vice-Chancellor had gone on record stating that he was being targeted by the government due to factional rivalries in the Congress party. The SFI said serious allegations had been raised against the Vice Chancellor. The SFI would organise students’ conventions in all colleges under the university on Tuesday.
