Organisations working for the welfare of the tribal people have urged the State government to set up a committee for the welfare of the tribal people.
Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, V. Ganesh, president of the Karnataka SC, ST, Backward Classes, Tribal Forum, said, “Issues related to tribal people come under the Social Welfare Department and the benefits are not reaching the tribal people. Setting up a committee will ensure that the benefits reach these people,” he said.
Mr. Ganesh said that the forum has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister urging him to allocate at least Rs. 1,000 crore in the budget for the welfare of the tribal people in the State.
