Son of a private security guard achieved high rank in the prestigious Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).

Tumu Satish, who graduated with flying colours, stood 16th in GATE. His father, Rama Rao, is a security guard in a private hotel and his mother, Ganga, a teacher.

Satish, who hails from Seetanagaram near here, did his Intermediate in APRJC, Nagarjunasagar. After completing B.Tech he joined the Srihari GATE Academy here. He gave full credit to the faculty and to E. Srihari, the director of the academy for his achievement. Satish plans to join the Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore, and wants to take up a job after completing M.Tech. “I have received offers from IOCL, TCS and other reputed MNCs. But I want to study further ,” he asserted. Mr. Srihari said they started GATE coaching last year. In the first year itself 16 students of the academy got ranks below 1,000 at the all-India level.
