: Reiterating the demand for a comprehensive probe into the murder of Satnam Singh, the 23-year-old undergraduate student of Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University, his father Harvinder Singh said the government should ignore the inquiry report submitted by Inspector General of Police B. Sandhya and should order an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mr Singh said his family cannot take the probe report at face value as from the beginning the Kerala police were trying to hide the circumstances under which Satnam was arrested from Mata Amritanandamayi Math on August 1 and the reason to admit him to the Peroorkada Mental Hospital.
He was taken into custody by the Karunagapally police after he allegedly created a ruckus in the Math. He was declared brought dead at the Government Medical College from the Mental Hospital on August 4, he said.
Mr Singh said his son had no previous record of violence and he was unarmed when the police arrested him. He could have been released on bail, he said. “The post-mortem examination report said there were 77 injury marks on his body and I am of the firm belief that he was deliberately assaulted at the Mental hospital. Probe by an external agency will bring out the truth,” he said.
