: The Goa State Human Rights Commission (GSHRC), headed by Justice (retd.) P.K. Mishra, on Wednesday took suo motu cognisance of reports in local newspapers of a student’s allegations of sexual harassment by a senior International Film Festival of India (IFFI) official on November 16 night and directed IFFI Director Shankar Mohan to submit a report on or before December 2.

The Delhi girl had alleged sexual harassment by a Deputy Director of the Directorate of the Film Festival when she was working under him during preparations for IFFI and had expressed dissatisfaction over an oral apology he tendered following an inquiry conducted by a three-member committee formed under the Vishaka guidelines by the Director of Festivals. Mr. Mohan has said the probe could not come to a conclusion.

The GSHRC order made it clear that the report must be submitted on or before December 2 and there should be no prayer for adjournment.
