Rape of minor girl comes to light

Even as the gang-rape of a minor girl reported in Hassan is still fresh in public memory, another rape of a minor girl came to light here on Sunday.

A 13-year old girl, from a village in Hassan taluk, was raped allegedly by her neighbour on December 18.

The victim, studying in a school 2 km from her village, needed to get to her school on the evening of December 18 to go on a study tour organised by the school.

According to police, the accused, Rangaraju, offered to drop the girl to the school and then raped her.

The police registered a case on Sunday. Efforts were on to arrest the accused who is absconding, he said.
