The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday night arrested a railway official on charges of forcibly taking bribe from a subordinate employee.
According to sources, D. Suresh, Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant, Goldenrock Workshop, Tiruchi, lodged a complaint with the CBI’s Anti-Corruption Branch here that the Chief Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant Nagaraj was harassing him to pay a bribe of Rs. 10,000. The official had claimed that he was responsible for a promotion given to Suresh recently.
A special team formed to investigate the complaint arrested Nagaraj soon after he received Rs. 5,000 as the first instalment of bribe from the complainant near Villivakkam railway station.
