Leadership of various pro-LDF trade unions and the State committee of the DYFI have come out in support of the ruling Left Democratic Front's decision to hold a hartal on April 29 to press for a ban on production and use of Endosulfan in the country.

In separate statements here on Tuesday, joint action council of trade unions and the DYFI State committee called upon workers and youth in the State to send a strong message to the UPA government at the Centre by making the hartal a success.

In its statement, the DYFI State committee said that its 25,000 units in the State would organise torch processions on Wednesday in support of LDF's hartal call.

In another statement, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) State committee said that there was no question of the party wavering in its commitment to the anti-Endosulfan struggle because its national president Sharad Pawar was the Union Agriculture Minister.
