Power failure has crippled agriculture sector and powerloom industry as both the DMK and AIADMK governments failed to plan for the future, DMDK founder and Opposition Leader Vijayakant said here on Saturday.
Addressing party cadre at a public meeting, Mr. Vijayakant said that the power problem was highlighted by him in 2006 Assembly, but both the governments failed to take action leading to power crisis.
‘Dreams of poor and downtrodden youths have shattered after the leak of TNPSC Group II question paper and action should be taken against the perpetrators’, he added.
Though ballet boxes were sent to inaccessible areas in hills through jeeps, no efforts have been taken to improve the situation.
Mr. Vijayakant said that granite scam, illegal sand quarrying was continuing in the State that needs proper attention.
Instead of the government fixing up target for TASMAC shops, efforts should be taken to make the State a prosperous one, he added. Though DMDK cadre face hurdles in carrying out public service like white washing and clearing of garbage, it will continue to carry on for benefiting the people, he added. Later he distributed welfare assistance of Rs. 20 lakh to tribal people.
