Social Welfare Minister H. Anjaneya on Tuesday said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was seriously considering extending the welfare schemes being taken up by the Department of Backward Classes and Minorities to poor people from even the Brahmin and Vysya communities. Mr. Anjaneya told a public function in Bangalore that the government wanted to treat poor people from all communities equally.

He also sought to clarify that the backward classes included even poor people from the majority communities of Vokkaliga and Lingayats.
