10,000 CDs seized; latest films among them

Around 10,000 CDs and computers were seized and seven persons arrested in an anti-piracy raid by the State Police on Saturday. CDs of movies such as Kammath and Kammath , Face to Face, Romans, Run Baby Run, Vishwaroopam and Kumukki were among those seized, a press note said.

The police arrested Hashim from Kayamkulam; Jishnu from Alappuzha; Vishakh Valsan from Thrissur; Jeneesh from Malappuram; Almish from Mannarkad; Abdul Rashid from Palakkad; and Mansoor from Palakkad for being in possession of pirated CDs.

Cases registered

Cases were registered against Majeed and Yasser from Malappuram for storing pirated CDs in their shop. A case was also registered against Subbair from Malappuram because copies of the latest Malayalam films were found stored in his computer. The police also registered a case against Ashraf from Kottakal for being in possession of pirated CDs.

The seized material and the arrested persons were produced in various courts across the State. The raid was carried out by an anti-piracy cell team led by Superintendent of Police Rajpal Meena, the press note added.
