Paul Valappila dead

Paul Valappila, freedom fighter and chairman of Valappila Communications, died of age-related illnesses here on Thursday. He was 89.

He had associated with former Chief Minister K. Karunakaran in his trade union activities in Thrissur. He was a State-level office-bearer of the Karshaka Thozhilali Party (KTP), founded by Fr. Joseph Vadakkan. He was printer and publisher of the newspaper Thozhilali . He was State president of the Legion of Mary and member of the pastoral council of the Thrissur Archdiocese.

The body will be laid to rest on Saturday at the cemetery of the Shrine Basilica of Our Lady of Dolours. He is survived by his wife Mary Chacko and children James Valapppila, Johns Valappila, Rose Kumari, Raizel, Rexy and Reni.
