Gorakhpur: The Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan on Friday said that it would seek alliance from regional parties like Peace Party and Bhartiya Samaj Party to strengthen the issue of a separate Purvanchal State. Paswan said, “Separate Statehood is necessary for speedy development of 27 districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh.”

Citing the cases of Jharkhand and Uttarakhand, he said he was of the opinion that development goals are easily achieved in smaller States.

On the issue of forming the Government in Jharkhand, he said that he was in the favour of Shibu Soren as Chief Minister, as his party has won 18 seats in the polls. -- PTI
